Risk Disclaimer
Smart contract risk
lock.tools's on-chain program has not necessarily completed a third-party security audit at any given time. Interacting with any Solana program, including this one, carries the risk of bugs, exploits, or unforeseen behavior that could affect locked tokens.
Upgradeable program
Unless and until the program's upgrade authority is revoked or placed under a multisig, whoever holds that key can replace the program, which would change how locks behave. Check the current status of the upgrade authority before relying on a lock as a guarantee.
Irreversibility
By design, lock.tools has no cancel or early-withdraw path. If you lock the wrong token, the wrong amount, or set the wrong unlock time, that mistake cannot be corrected once the transaction confirms. An extension also cannot be undone.
Token issuer powers
Some tokens give their issuer the ability to freeze accounts or pause transfers. An issuer could freeze a lock's vault or pause withdrawals, which would stop you withdrawing until they lift it. This is a property of the token, not of lock.tools. The app warns you before you sign when a token has these powers.
Token-2022 extensions
Some tokens use the Token-2022 program with extensions such as transfer fees. A transfer fee reduces the amount actually received, both when locking and when withdrawing. Always check the token program badge and any warnings shown before locking.
Wallet loss
Only the wallet that created a lock can withdraw it. If you lose access to that wallet, the tokens cannot be recovered by anyone, including lock.tools.
No guarantee of value
Locking a token does not protect its market value. A locked token can still fall to zero in price while it remains locked.
You are responsible for your own research
A public lock.tools proof-of-lock page shows that specific tokens are locked under specific terms. It is not an endorsement of the underlying project or token, and should not be treated as financial advice.
